APPLE PHONE CASE FAQS
What type of phone case is best? - It really depends on your specific needs. If you use your iPhone in a dual role - situational awareness and for standard phone calls - the ADVNTR case might be the best option. If you're using your iPhone as a standard everyday carry cell phone, our slimmest ENDVR case might be your preference. Both models are made from a mix of hardened polymer and shock absorbing TPU to create a blend of performance materials that provide drop testing results that exceed military standard. You can check out our testing standards HERE.
Is a hard or soft case better for the phone? - A hard case phone protector is the longest-lasting option, has the best temperature protection and gives you the sleekest design. We find that a mix of both hard and soft materials creates the best drop performance. Cases that are made of 100% flexible silicone or rubber are prone to splitting. Our unique hardened polymer blend has been the default material for many of our legacy case designs. What we found, based on customer feedback, is that minimal TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) material, strategically placed, provides better ergonomic performance, as well as additional shock absorption. This is achieved by co-molding the TPU within the main body of hard polymer, which is reflected in all of our ENDVR, ADVNTR, and OPRTR cases.
What is an impact phone case? - A high-impact phone case consists of the mix of materials mentioned above. The co-molded design of our ADVNTR and ENDVR cases gives you improved protection against all types of impacts. Our legacy IMPCT models don't have the co-molding, but rather an interior high density foam material to mitigate shock. All our cases also have raised bezels on the sides of the screen and camera lens to protect these vulnerable components if you drop your phone.
Do phone cases absorb impact? - While all phone cases absorb some impact, some do a better job than others. Flexible materials like rubber, silicone and TPU are best for impact absorption. Hard plastics and carbon fiber transfer more of the impact to the device, so they’re best used in combination with a softer material. As mentioned in the previous FAQ, Juggernaut.Cases are designed with a combination of materials to leverage the benefits of multiple materials. You can check out our testing standards HERE.
Do iPhones really need screen protectors? - We find this is a matter of user preference and environment. As mentioned previously, our cases have raised bezels on the sides of the screen and camera lens, and in many cases is sufficient to protect your iPhone's screen. If you have an active profession or lifestyle, or you’re on the clumsier side, an iPhone screen protector may be a wise investment, even if it's just for peace of mind. Our Apple SHLD Screen Protectors have shatterproof technology and are compatible with any of our ENDVR and ADVNTR model cases.
